My Favorite Productivity Apps
When you run a small business that’s a one man show, means you end up playing multiple roles. Running a creative business means you need the help of fun, simple but very helpful tools to complete your business tasks and help with completing client work. As a blogger I’ve always been interested in cool apps and websites that make life so much easier and cooler. Now that I run my business, my obsessions has gotten a bit worse. I thought it would be cool to share some of these tools that have made life easier for me and that could also be helpful for you. I use these productivity tools EVERYDAY! Some of them have cool phone versions which make working on the go possible.
“A Trello board is a list of lists, filled with cards, used by you and your team. It’s a lot more than that, though. Trello has everything you need to organize projects of any size. Open a card and you can add comments, upload file attachments, create checklists, add labels and due dates, and more.”
I use Trello to organize my life! I have boards for all my different projects. Every job I start, I give it a check list that I check off every time I’m done with it. It makes planning future projects easy as well. But I love it for my blog posts. I have monthly boards of blog posts I want to do that month & once its done, I add its graphic and link so I keep track of each posts I’ve done so I don’t repeat it. Trello also has a phone app which means you get to jot down your ideas anywhere and anytime.
“Pocket is an application and service for managing a reading list of articles from the Internet.”
Pocket is really cool because it allows you to save articles to be able to catch up on them later. Unlike bookmarking something on your phone or computer, pocket works simultaneously. So you save it on your computer and you can read it later on you phone thanks to its phone app.
“Hours Keeper is a well designed application that you can use to easily track your hours worked and calculate your earnings.”
Hours Keeper is a phone app that I use for my retainer clients that I charge by the hour. It allows me to clock in when I start working and clock out when done. This makes it easier for me to keep track of the time worked. Allowing me to get paid accurately and for my clients to pay for the exact hours I’ve worked.
Canva is my all time favorite discovery. I use it to create cool and professional graphics. They have designs for anything and everything. This application is also great for someone who is starting out and cannot afford to work with a graphic designer. It’s easy to use and very fast as well. Use it to give your documents a professional feel, but more especially design your blog graphics.
Unsplash is free website with high res, beautiful quality stock images. Photographers upload their images for anyone and for any use. This is my number one place for client stock images when creating websites or profiles. I also use it for my blog and website.
“Creative Market is an online marketplace for community-generated design assets. The company sells graphics, WordPress themes, stock photography, and other digital goods for use by web creatives.”
Creative Market is my go to place for WordPress templates. With the vast options to choose from it makes it easier to find something suitable for every client I work with. They also have free goods every week that you can download if interested in them.
Mailchimp is a simple email marketing software. They make it easy to compile databases, creating awesome looking emailers and tracking how successful they are. They allow you to send to 2000 subscribers with their free version of which if you get to more subscribers you need the paid version.
“Waveapps is an online financial service aiming at small businesses with 10 or less employees”
This software has made making & sending invoices so easy & fast. It gives you professional design, its easy to use and even sends reminders to your client on overdue invoices. They just introduced an upgrade to their iPhone app which has a new slick design and gave it a few more features. I’m now able to send invoices even if I’m not in front of my computer
Hopefully this list has made you discover some cool apps that you can use for your small business. If I have left any out that you enjoy you can share with me in the comments section and I will sure check it out. Will you be trying any of the ones I’ve mentioned?
